If someone asked my daughter a question about the earth and she responded, "Sometimes I wish we didn't exist," I'd be extremely concerned. No child should ever question their existence or self worth. The woman in this picture just smiles as if she was infected with something The Joker cooked up. Her silence speaks volumes about the green movement.
It was only yesterday that I covered the Sith-environmentalists who made George Lucas beg for mercy, winning a war of attrition that lasted decades. What I neglected to mention is that these same people target kids. They need another generation of storm troopers to bully the rest of us around, even if deep down they wished we were all dead. Exhibit A: the sixth grade girl Brian Sussman, author of “Eco-Tyranny,” interviews at Santa Cruz’s Earth Day Festival. I mentioned the weird self loathing environmental activists have during a recent post, but video of one of their young pupils deserves coverage.
Brian Sussman: What is the most serious threat facing humanity today?
Student: Human existence. …
Brian Sussman: What are the humans doing to the planet? What are they doing to harm the earth.
Student: They’re polluting. The birds and animals eat it and then they die.
Brian Sussman: How does that make you feel?
Student: I wish they didn’t pollute…and sometimes I wish we didn’t exist.
Brian Sussman: How much of this are you learning about in your school these days?
Student: We’re learning a lot about it, but I don’t know about other schools.
Most people who watch the video zero in on the girl, who sadly has been inculcated to believe her mere existence is a burden. However, perhaps the scariest part of the video is her mother, silently grinning off to the side for the duration of the interview. She almost looks as if she was infected with some of the chemicals the Joker cooked up in Tim Burton’s Batman.
Every human being has self-worth. In fact, you have a right to be here. You have a purpose, and as such you should never feel guilty for being alive. People who walk around wishing they were dead won’t respect your right to life. They won’t think twice about messing with your basic freedoms and liberties, and so it should come as no surprise that totalitarian tendencies show up every time you run across a true believer of the green movement.
If you believe humans are a scourge upon the planet and if you believe there are “too many people,” then it only becomes a matter of time before the ends justify the means. Green activists are scary, even if they do a good job hiding their frightening side behind smiles and heartfelt testimonials. Underneath their patty-cake hippie exteriors are ruthless people who will stop at nothing to force you into compliance with their worldview.
The solution? You have to fight harder for freedom and liberty than they do for oppression and tyranny.

Scary stuff indeed.
Shades of “Soylent Green” — another fine Heston flic that was 30 years ahead of its time.
“Soylent Green IS people!”
Why did you have to do that, Jim? Now I’m going to have nightmares.
They’re already dead I think.
Thanks for taking the time to give the post a read, Harrison. I appreciate it.
Environmentalists are scary. You baked another flimflam soufflé out of a single quote from a single parent and child to paint the movement with a broad stroke as nut jobs who want to take away our liberty with their totalitarian tendencies. Standard Republican fear tactic. Bravo!
Well, I guess you must really like soufflé because you keep coming to my site over and over again. Or, perhaps I make a lot of good points and you know it.
Sure, that kid is either puppeting something momma said, or can’t at her young age verbalized a cogent statement about environment conservation. Either way, you’re painting with broad strokes regardless of why I visit this site.
You want only parrots or bobble heads here?
I write this blog primarily for conservatives like Gina, who commented not long ago:
http://douglasernstblog.com/2010/12/29/liberal-purveyors-of-cool-aren%E2%80%99t-%E2%80%93-you-are-why-the-conservatives-need-you-to-take-the-reigns-and-win-the-culture-war/
I’m not sure how you would define her and I don’t really care.
Bobbleheads it is. Hey, at very least you are honest.
You’ve shown your true self. I will treat your comments appropriately in the future.
Not sure what that means, but it’s your blog.
What I find fascinating is people’s fear to actually talk to people of other opinions in a civilized manner. It’s far easier to classify them as an “other” and disregard them, stigmatize them, and ultimately dehumanized them.
You can ban me, disregard me, castigate me, whatever floats your boat. But I hope just one reader decides to peel back the onion layers and not take anything you or even I say and do some thinking on their own.
Finding a blog to feel better about your viewpoint isn’t nearly as intellectually stimulating as engaging in civilized debate or even trying to understand the other person’s opinion. Once you understand someone’s thoughts, it’s possible to persuade them.
Your blog preaches to the choir, as opposed to making people come around. Is that what you want? It’s basically a waste of your time. You want to do something great for your party and political ideology? Convince others that your points are sound. You don’t do that slinging barbs and insults.
Just a throught.
You asked me why I write this blog. I pointed to a young conservative girl who felt so isolated and alone on campus that she prayed to God for someone to give her hope. She found someone here who believed what she did, and for whatever reason my message resonated with her and inspired her to go out there and speak up for what she believes in. I was once in her position, and like her I found people who inspired me and it changed the trajectory of my life.
You reply by qualifying her as a “Bobblehead.” It truly does say something about you.
I receive plenty of private and public comments about this blog that refute your claim that I am preaching to the choir. Yes, I am conservative. I openly state that. But your assertion that I am wasting my time is laughable.
If anyone is wasting their time it’s you, who come to this blog and complain about how it’s not intellectually stimulating for you, I don’t use the sources you would cite, I don’t put in the research per blog post that lives up to your standards and I’m preaching to the choir. In short, it’s not your blog.
Go read some AEI or Heritage research papers if that’s the conservative product you’re after.
God made her click here. It was divine providence. You saved her from those mean liberals in your warm bosom of right-wing propaganda.
You are doing God’s good work. Because God is a Republican. They must have told the stories wrong about Jesus loving the poor. He really said, get a job you entitlement-program loving bums!
Like I said, this thread really has shown your true nature. I don’t even need to say what I really think about you, because it’s perfectly clear for people to see what you are.
Uh, okay. Is that supposed to hurt my feelings? :*(
Why don’t you define me for your legion of non-commenting readers, Doug. What are my views? Go ahead and tell your readers what to think. That’s the republican modus operandi, right?
Keep writing biased propaganda and I’ll keep researching it and shining a little light for your readers. If they read the comments, they’re my readers too. Better yet, ban me and reveal yourself for what you are: afraid of intelligent dissenting opinion.
You claim to be “bare-knuckled” but get all butt-hurt when I called one of your readers a bobble head.
I’m not easily goaded by guys like you into personal attacks. Sorry. I never claimed to have “legions” of fans, but I am quite happy with my WordPress stats and the growth in site hits over the last two years, especially given the limited amount of time I have to write. My post on Downey alone had over 2,000 hits within the first two days it was up, and for me that’s a success.
You’d like it if I banned you, wouldn’t you? Nope. Like I said, your comments say quite a lot about who you are and what you stand for. Scared of “intelligent dissenting opinion”? No. I’d just rather spend my time writing and reading than going back and forth with someone who spends an odd amount of time on a blog he deems a “flim-flam soufflé.”
Okay. Now that we’ve swerved back o to the high road, let’s get back to the OT. Do you think this little girl and her mom represent oppression and tyranny? Are all conservationist this way? Are there any environmental causes to which you lend material support? Did you know that Nixon started the EPA and they have done some wonderful things?
I’ll grant you, there are nuts in any movement or cause, but to paint the lot of them tyrannical oppressors because some kid had trouble with a sentence, that’s a broad stroke. The same thing happens to the Tea Party, the Occupy movement, and to just about any cause. Cherry pick a few nutscases for interviews and delegitimize the message.
Q: Do you think this little girl and her mom represent oppression and tyranny?
A: “Most people who watch the video zero in on the girl, who sadly has been inculcated to believe her mere existence is a burden.” No, the focus of the piece is not on the girl, but on the vision of the activists, the ‘true believers.” I used that term for a reason. If her mom is an activist and a true believer, then I have no problem calling her out on shilling for tyranny.
The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements
Q: Are all conservationists this way?
A: See “True Believer” above.
Q: Are there any environmental causes to which you lend material support?
A: You might as well have asked if I “support” clean air or clean water. Of course. That’s not the question. The question is how do you go about doing that, and at what point does it become stupid (e.g., the cost of ridding water of 99% of all possibly-dangerous minerals might cost ‘x’ amount of money, but the price goes up exponentially for every 1/10 or 1/100 of a percentage point after that, and activists want to reach 99.9 percent…without caring about the cost, impact on jobs, etc.).
Q: Did you know that Nixon started the EPA and they have done some wonderful things?
A: Sigh… Yes, I know Nixon started the EPA. Whether an organization or person does “wonderful” things doesn’t really matter if what they’re doing is unconstitutional. Case in point:
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/03/supreme-court-rules-for-idaho-couple-in-epa-battle/
My favorite part about the Sackett case was when the story first broke and the Associated Press didn’t bother to mention that it was a unanimous decision. I wonder if they were happy with the ruling… But hey, they’re not biased or anything.
