‘Occupy’ lies with anarchist dogs, wakes with ammonium nitrate fleas

The two best pieces I’ve read on the “Occupy” movement come from liberal faux-rock magazine Rolling Stone, and National Review editor Rich Lowry. Rolling Stone’s Jeff Sharlet attempts to spin the movement into something positive with ‘Welcome to the Occupation,’ but in the end still concludes that it’s a directionless mish-mash. Lowry’s ‘The Left’s Homegrown [...]

Chen Guangcheng: Real-world Daredevil

April 29, 2012

It’s the story of a blind lawyer, one who fights for the rights of those less fortunate. He’s hunted by his powerful enemies. He’s been forced into hiding. His heroism puts his family in danger. He scales massive walls in the middle of the night to secure his freedom. Sounds like we’re talking about the [...]

George Lucas slayed by Sith-environmentalists

April 24, 2012

The transformation of George Lucas from creative genius to evil Sith Lord of the Star Wars universe is well documented. Up until this point I have merely pointed out that while Lucas likens George Bush to Darth Vader and often demonizes successful capitalists, it is he who sold his integrity to the highest bidders, built [...]

Escape from Camp 14: A haunting tale of North Korea’s gulags

April 19, 2012

Where does one begin when reviewing Blaine Harden’s Escape from Camp 14? The story of Shin In Geun’s (now Shin Dong-hyuk) life inside a North Korean gulag is one not many people in free societies can ever really fathom, which is probably why the book is a harder sell than it needs to be. Americans [...]

Occupy Charlotte Flag Burning Fools: Keep Them Coming.

The “Occupy” movement is like a box of Lucky Charms, although instead of “Pink Hearts, Orange Stars, Yellow Moons, Green Clovers, Blue Diamonds, and Purple Horseshoes,” we have “Envious Hearts, Liberal Stars, Defecating Moons, Green (with Envy) Students, Blue States, and Purple Hair.” And now, instead of “Red Balloons” we have “Flag-burning Buffoons!” Magically delicious? [...]

Ben & Jerry’s Supports Protesters. “Occupied Fudge” Flavor Next?

October 10, 2011

Good news for fans of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, particularly fans of Schweddy Balls: they’ve come out in favor of the Occupy Wall Street Protesters! Some might ask which aspect of the movement they support, since it’s composed of socialists, anarchists, liberal Democrats, labor unions, college kids, aging hippies, and druggies, each with their [...]

Three Cheers for Corporate Greed!

October 9, 2011

A friend of mine asked why conservatives were making fun of the Occupy Wall Street protesters and their iPhones, Starbucks runs, Hot Topic regalia, and high tech cameras used for broadcasting “the revolution.” The Hot Topic clothing speaks for itself…but his general inquiry was: “Aren’t they only railing against corporate greed?” My response: If so, [...]

Occupy Wall Street’s New Mascot: Marvel’s Mr. Sinister!

October 8, 2011

It was only a matter of time. The “Occupy Wall Street” crowd has been around for days now, and they needed a mascot. Should they turn to the guy spraying diarrhea on a cop car? Zombies? A college kid who protests by day, but asks mom to put money on his meal card at night? [...]

Greenpeace: Fear the Volkswagen Death Star

June 28, 2011

Do you remember the Volkswagen commercial with the cute kid in the Darth Vader costume? It turns out, he really is evil—according to Greenpeace. In a new ad by the liberal activist group, Kid Darth is confronted by Junior Jedi, a Child Chewie, your favorite Star Wars droids, and Kid Lando (with a mustache) due [...]

Code Pink AWOL. Confirmed: No One Misses Them.

September 5, 2010

A few years ago Code Pink was everywhere.  I was in graduate school, and it seemed like not a week went by without me having to listen to them in the DC metro, or see them as I took a visiting friend on the tourists’ DC “must see” circuit. I’m also going to hell, because [...]
